When iPhone reminder notifications don’t show up

1. Notifications are allowed for the app

Apps must ask before they can send notifications, and it is easy to tap “Don’t Allow” without noticing. iOS updates and restores can also change settings.

1. Open the iPhone Settings app and tap Notifications.
2. Find the app in the list and tap it.
3. Turn on Allow Notifications.
4. Make sure Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners are ticked, and that Sounds is on if you want to hear it.

2. Focus and Do Not Disturb

Focus modes (Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work, Driving and any you created) silence notifications from apps you have not allowed. A Focus can also switch on by itself on a schedule or when you open certain apps.

1. Open Settings → Focus.
2. Tap each Focus you use.
3. Under Allow Notifications, tap Apps and add the app you rely on for reminders.

3. Scheduled Summary

Scheduled Summary collects notifications from chosen apps and delivers them together at set times. That is fine for news, and bad for a reminder that has to arrive at 9 in the morning. In Settings → Notifications, tap the app and set it to Immediate Delivery (not in the Scheduled Summary).

4. Lock screen previews

Under Settings → Notifications → Show Previews, you choose whether the text of a notification shows on the lock screen. “When Unlocked” hides the reminder text until you unlock the phone. That protects privacy, but you may see only the app name. Choose what fits you.

5. Sound and silent mode

If your iPhone is in silent mode, alerts arrive without sound. If you rely on hearing them, check the silent switch or Action button, and the app’s Sounds setting.

6. The phone was off or the app was removed

Local reminders are scheduled on the device. If the phone was switched off at the time, or the app was deleted and reinstalled, alerts that were due can be lost. After reinstalling any reminder app, open it and check your upcoming reminders.

7. After an iOS update or a new phone

People often notice missing reminders right after updating iOS or moving to a new iPhone. After either, open each app you rely on for reminders, check that notifications are still allowed, and look at your Focus modes again: a restored phone can bring back an old Focus schedule you had forgotten about.

8. Test it once

The simplest check is a test. Set a reminder for a clock time a few minutes away (for example, if it is 4:52 pm, say “remind me at 4:55 pm to check the alert”), lock the phone, and wait. If it arrives with sound and text, your settings are fine. If not, work through the steps above while you still have the missing alert in mind.

What is specific to MemoSeek
